Kristina joined The Learning Consultants in 2007, shortly after completing her PhD in English at the University of Connecticut. There, she got her sea legs as a teacher, coaxing undergraduates to think and write critically.
In 2008, Kristina also began consulting for Scholastic, inspired by the company’s mission to raise literacy rates in urban schools. For more than a decade, she coached hundreds of teachers throughout the country and once in Canada. Kristina quickly became a valued member of her team and earned a reputation in school districts for her teaching, coaching expertise, and ability to engage students in learning. As one teacher wrote, Kristina’s “experience, suggestions, feedback, and leading through examples were second to none.”
In 2015, Kristina joined Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), continuing to do undertake both private tutoring and educational consulting. In July 2019, after leading a large-scale project in Middletown Public Schools to unprecedented student reading and math growth, Kristina left HMH to pursue freelance consulting work and dedicate much more time to The Learning Consultants, as head of reading and writing programs.
Kristina has helped countless students over the years become more adept and confident as thinkers, readers, and writers. She particularly enjoys working with students on their college essays, guiding them to find and bring to life their authentic stories. As one parent put it, “I thought about you as “ 911” when it came to the essay 😊.”
