Attention Connecticut parents of high school juniors. Your child is applying to college?

By General Education Advice

Moving away from home is the biggest transition in your child’s life.

Even if they are acting nonchalant about it, and even if you do not want to pressure them to care, you should know what I know after providing college counseling through the years: they care… a lot.  Many have back-of-the-mind anxiety that affects them more than they let on.

I have noticed through the years of working with students from Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, East Lyme, Essex, and beyond that the healthy movement away from too much pressure on college has been replaced with nihilism – “it doesn’t matter.”

Nothing can be further from the truth.

Whatever your child’s choice may be…. leaving high school is significant.

College is still the best option for most, particularly those in Shoreline, CT.
