Chaos: How We Can Your Children Thrive Despite The Crazy World
By Daryl CapuanoGeneral Education AdviceMore than anything, I am a parent; perhaps “husband” is a tie!
The pace of change has increased. Dramatically.
This creates chaos.
This creates fear.
This makes parents stay up at night.
When I started The Learning Consultants, the mission was to help children and young adults. Increasingly, I realized that, by doing so, the mission was to help parents.
My parent-clients (and parent-client-friends) suffer when their children suffer.
The crazy pace of change has made predictable linear paths to success less predictable.
But… I know the following with certainty: developing your child’s “work character” is one certain way to ensure that they will do well enough and more likely better than that in whatever it is they pursue.
Years ago, we developed The Student Mastery Program. In quick sum, we train students to become good students. The end goal for almost all parents – at the time – was good grades to get into good colleges. That end goal is now a bit fuzzier.
But for wise parents, the goals that we preached: (1) developing responsibility, accountability, the capacity to get things done (2) time management, project management, deadline orientation (3) work ethic (4) teacher (boss) relationship skills and (5) pride in work well done were all aligned for what they wanted for their children.
Today, these goals are not only as valuable in the abstract but also more valuable – way more valuable – in clear practical value.
If your child has work character, your child will be far more likely to deal with chaos.
Match your child with one of our Student Mastery Coaches.
Years later, you will be thankful.
