College Application Season: Essay and Application Help

‘Daryl, I’m going to outsource this you…” Martha, one of my favorite client-moms, recently said.  I had worked with her son John for several years related to school – in general – and SATs and college counseling specifically.  John was a pretty good teen.  But he was one of those – usually boys! – with one word answers when asked about his progress on anything practical and a penchant for leaving things to the last minute.  “For my mental health, please help John through the applications and essays.”

I had already worked with John to create his school list and his Early Decision “decision”.

His schools were not extraordinarily difficult in relation to admission.  He merely needed to load the schools onto the Common App, fill in a few questions, write his main college essay (this is actually tough!) and maybe a supplemental essays.
