Mandatory SATs for Connecticut high school students
By Daryl CapuanoSAT ACT Test PrepSAT season for Connecticut High School Juniors.
All Connecticut students attending public high schools will take the SAT as part of their graduation requirements. In the Shoreline area, Branford, Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook, Valley Regional, Old Lyme, East Lyme, Waterford among other schools, will be administering the SAT in either late March or early April. These tests will be administered without the essay.
But most students should also take the March test with essay. To do so, sign up through the College Board. Here’s the reasoning: some colleges will require the essay. So, it would be a shame to do well on the in-school test but then have to take the SAT again just to check off the essay requirement. Moreover, most every student does better the 2nd or 3rd time. And, due to score choice (most colleges allow students to only submit their best score), it makes analytical (perhaps not emotional!) sense to take the test at least 3 times.
Maximize your scores before the end of junior year. It will make college planning so much easier over the summer.
