SAT Time: East Lyme High School

By General Education Advice

East Lyme Students Work Hard. The SAT Proves It.

East Lyme High School is one of the strongest public schools in Connecticut. The classes are demanding, the teachers hold students accountable, and grades are earned, not given.

That’s something to be proud of — but it can also create an unexpected problem in college admissions.

Across the country, grade inflation has become widespread. Students in less rigorous schools are graduating with the same GPAs as East Lyme students who’ve worked far harder.

That’s where the SAT matters again.

A strong SAT score tells colleges:

“This student didn’t just do well in East Lyme — they excelled at a national level.”

It’s an equalizer for students who deserve credit for thriving in a tough academic environment.
