A few things you should know:
  • The SAT or the ACT is a required piece of your application to UConn. It’s one of several pieces taken into consideration as part of our holistic application review process.
  • Test results must be submitted directly from the testing center. UConn’s institutional code for SAT is 3915 and ACT is 0604.
  • Take the test as many times as you’d like — we’ll use your highest scores to review your application.

During my 17 years of working with families from Connecticut, The University of Connecticut has gone from a school that many parents considered a “safety” (I prefer using “comfortable” chance for admission) to range to now a reach for many students.

The desirability of UCONN – a great school at the right price – has led to thousands of top applicants who were once fixated on the Ivy league and other upper tier schools.  The consequence: students need high SAT scores.  I have heard different numbers – off the record – from school officials but 1260 seems to be floating around the most.  Regardless, 1200 is likely a must, except for those who are number 1 or 2 in their class.
