Digital SAT Is Coming…. and Doing Well Will Help Pay for College

By General Education Advice

“That was the best summer job ever!”  That may be the most common remark from parents… and some students… in relation to attending our Summer SAT Prep class. I routinely comment to Shoreline, CT Parents.  I have some good news, some bad news, and some good news whenever the subject of paying for college arises.

The good news: those who live in Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook, Essex, Old Lyme, East Lyme and other Shoreline, CT areas make more money than most Americans.

The bad news: those who live in Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook, Essex, Old Lyme, East Lyme and other Shoreline, CT areas usually do not qualify for financial aid.

The good news: merit aid is real and is the main way that those from relatively affluent Connecticut suburbs lower the sticker cost of college. SAT scores are one of the main ways that college differentiate giving awards to accepted students.  Why?  Because once students are accepted, it is very difficult to distinguish grades from one high school to the next and activity distinction is even more fuzzy. The SAT is the one way to show your stuff and get scholarship money.

Given the new digital PSAT and SAT, those who learn the new format earlier than others will have an enormous competitive advantage.

Our summer class will help you pay for college!
